Doha received its first-ever Michelin recognition with the launch of the inaugural Michelin Guide Doha, awarding stars to a small group of the city's restaurants. Idam by Alain Ducasse — set inside the National Museum of Qatar, with views over the museum's desert-rose architecture and the bay — was separately named Best Restaurant in the MENA region at the 2026 MENA's 50 Best Restaurants awards.
The recognition reflects a broader maturing of Doha's fine-dining scene over the past decade, as international chefs and hospitality groups have opened flagship restaurants alongside the city's traditional Qatari and wider Gulf cuisine. For visitors, it's a useful signal: Doha's dining options now extend well beyond hotel restaurants and Souq Waqif into genuinely destination-worthy fine dining.
