The Doha Metro is one of the easiest, most pleasant ways to get around the city — modern, air-conditioned, frequent, and inexpensive. For visitors staying anywhere near West Bay, Msheireb or Souq Waqif, it's often the simplest option, well ahead of renting a car.
The three lines
The network is built around three colour-coded lines — Red, Green and Gold — radiating from the central Msheireb interchange station. The Red Line runs from the airport area up through West Bay; the Green Line serves Souq Waqif and Education City; the Gold Line runs east–west through Msheireb.
Tickets and the tourist card
Single-journey tickets and rechargeable travel cards are both available at station kiosks and machines. Visitors planning several metro trips will generally find a rechargeable card more convenient than buying individual tickets each time.
